As a mentor, you will:

Share your professional expertise and experience with participating teams.

Answer questions and provide advice as teams develop their ideas and solutions.

Help teams identify opportunities, overcome obstacles, and strengthen their solutions ahead of the final submission and jury evaluation.

Mentors are not assigned to individual teams. Instead, all mentors are available to support any participating team that could benefit from their particular expertise.

Your role is to guide, advise, and inspire the teams, not to develop their solutions for them. The ideas and solutions remain the responsibility of the participating teams.

Time commitment and participation

2 – 5 NOVEMBER 2026FULLY REMOTEMIN 50% AVAILABILITY

The hackathon takes place virtually from Monday, 2 November to Thursday, 5 November 2026. All mentors participate remotely and are expected to be available online for minimum 50% of the time during these four days.

During this time, you will be available to answer questions from participating teams, provide guidance through the hackathon's online communication platform, and join video calls with teams when needed.

You do not need to be continuously engaged in mentoring activities throughout the day. However, we ask that you remain accessible and responsive to questions from the teams during your allocated availability.

Further information about the mentoring platform, schedule, and practical arrangements will be provided to all confirmed mentors ahead of the hackathon.

Mentor recognition and networking

As a mentor, you will join an international community of professionals who share a commitment to supporting innovation and sustainable development.

You will also have the opportunity to connect with fellow mentors from Ericsson, its customers, and Hack for Earth's international mentor network.

Following the hackathon, all mentors will receive a Certificate of Mentorship from Hack for Earth, recognizing their valuable contribution to supporting the participating teams.

How to apply as Mentor

If you would like to join us as a mentor, please apply and tell us who you are — your name, organization and job position, competence, country, LinkedIn profile and a professional profile photo.

Your name, title, and photo will be published online by Hack for Earth, allowing participating teams to identify mentors with relevant expertise and reach out for support during the hackathon.

We would be delighted to have you join us and share your knowledge and experience with the next generation of innovators. Thank you for considering to contribute to the Ericsson Sustainability Challenge!
