1. The Hackathon and these terms

The Ericsson Sustainability Challenge (the "Hackathon") is organized by Hack for Earth AB ("the Organizer", "we") in partnership with Ericsson. By registering for or participating in the Hackathon you accept these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

• Participants must be at least 18 years old and considered adults with full legal capacity under the law of their home jurisdiction.
• The Organizer reserves the right to decline any application at its sole discretion, without stating reasons.
• Participation is free of charge.

3. Teams and registration

• Teams consist of 1–10 members.
• Each person may compete in one team only. If an individual submits as part of more than one team, that individual is disqualified from winning.
• Team membership may change up until the team's final submission. No changes are allowed after final submission.
• The team captain is the Organizer's contact point and confirms that all team members meet the eligibility requirements and have accepted these terms.

4. The competition

• The Hackathon's format, schedule, challenges and prizes are described on this website. The Organizer may reasonably adjust dates, format or content, and will communicate material changes to registered teams.
• Submissions must be the team's own work and must not infringe third-party rights.
• Jury decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

5. Intellectual property

• Teams keep full ownership of everything they create in the Hackathon — ideas, designs, source code and products.
• By submitting, each team grants the Organizer and the Hack for Earth Foundation an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to showcase the material submitted to us — such as team and solution names, descriptions, pitch decks and presentation videos — in our channels and communications. This license does not cover source code or functional products.

6. Prizes and costs

• Prizes are as described on this website, including the opportunity to present at the Ericsson Sustainability Award Ceremony at GITEX Global in Dubai and a spot in the Build for Earth accelerator for winning teams.
• The Organizer is not responsible for any costs borne by participants, including but not limited to travel, accommodation and visas. Participants arrange and cover these themselves.
• Prizes are personal, non-transferable and have no cash alternative.

7. Filming and publicity

• Parts of the Hackathon — including the finale and award ceremony — are live-streamed, filmed and photographed. By participating, you agree that such recordings, which may include your name and likeness, may be used in the Organizer's and its partners' communications, including reposting and use in Ericsson's channels.
• Winning teams and their solutions are published on this website to give them visibility.

8. Code of conduct

All participants are expected to:

• treat fellow participants, mentors, jury members and organizers with respect;
• submit original work and credit any third-party material used;
• follow applicable laws and the rules of the platforms used.

The Organizer may disqualify any participant or team for cheating, plagiarism, harassment or discrimination, misrepresentation, submitting as part of multiple teams, infringement of third-party rights, or any other serious breach of these terms.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Organizer is not liable for indirect losses, lost data, or costs incurred by participants in connection with the Hackathon. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Changes to these terms

The Organizer may update these terms; the current version is always published on this page with its date above. Material changes will be communicated to registered teams.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by Swedish law, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Swedish courts.
